Memory Eternal: Sonia Lukashuk

Sonia (Boris) Lukashuk, 84, of Newton, NJ passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017. Born and raised in Eastside, NY, she resided in Little Ferry for over 50 years before moving to Newton. A faithful and active parishioner of the Orthodox Christian Church of Christ the Saviour in Paramus, she was a member and past Secretary of Sts. Martha and Mary Altar Society and a Sunday School teacher. In 1955, she met her husband Stephan Lukashuk at The Russian Orthodox Cathedral of the Holy Virgin of Protection in New York City.

Prior to retiring in 1997, she was an executive secretary with Panasonic in Secaucus for 15 years. Previously, she was the Secretary to the Vice President of the Maritime Union in New York City.

Beloved wife of the late Stephan Lukashuk. Loving and devoted mother of Andrew Lukashuk and wife Linda and James Lukashuk and wife Kerri-Ann. Cherished grandmother of Christopher Lukashuk and wife Tanja and Melissa Lukashuk. Dear sister of Vera Dychkewick and husband Sergie and the late John Boris and wife Tillie. Dear aunt of Patricia Coykendall and husband Craig, John Boris, Jr. and wife Carol, Peter Dychkewich and wife Julie, Diane Dychkewich and Olga Melnyk.

The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday, September 26, 2017, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ. Funeral service Wednesday, September 27, 2017, 10 AM at the Orthodox Christian Church of Christ the Saviour, 365 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ 07652. Interment will follow at Hackensack Cemetery in Hackensack.
